“Horses have been in my life since before I could walk, so their healing powers are obvious to me. When I got the opportunity to help build an organization with such a great mission, that partnered horses with our veterans in need, I poured my heart and soul into it.”
Both of Rachel’s grandfathers served in WWII, and it was recently uncovered that her paternal grandfather led secret religious services for the other prisoners of war he was captured with in Germany. Such bravery and selflessness inspired Rachel to give back to all those who have fought for freedom.
Rachel is currently a research scientist in the Center for Advanced Genome Engineering at St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, where she worked on developing targeted drug delivery vehicles for improved cancer therapy. She has served on the boards of several organizations throughout her academic career, and is excited to share her experiences and learn even more with WarHorses for Heroes
