“All I want to do is pay back or say thank you in some small way for our veterans. I have always been taught to help those who cannot help themselves. Many of my friends that have returned from serving this great country have needed a little help. For me, this is the best way to help them. I have seen the way people interact with horses and know that it is getting them to a better place.”
Pearson Allen is the Director of Warhorses for Heroes and co-founder along with his best friend Trey Lawson. For the last five years, he has taught English at Saint Benedict in Cordova, TN. Before that he worked for the Non-profit Peer Power; which works with high school students in the Shelby County schools to improve their ACT preparation and to help with their general class work. He was educated at the University of Denver where he majored in Literature and minored in Business and communication. He has also worked for a New York City boutique publishing house, managing their business operations. He has had a passion for helping people since his mom (who runs the Holy Names Soup kitchen) convinced him to be the Santa one year for all the kids of the parish. From a young age, Pearson was taught to help others. As far back as he can remember his mother has run the soup kitchen at Holy Names church in downtown Memphis for the last 20 years. He has watched as that community has benefited from her being a part of it.
